Joan Lintault is an internationally renowned quilter who is one of among a handful of the original art quilters. She has been involved in the Fibers movement and has been exhibiting her work, with over 275 exhibitions, since 1965. In his book The Art Quilt (1997), Robert Shaw called her "...one of the most consistent and original of all contemporary quilt makers.”

“I remember seeing a piece by M. Joan Lintault in an exhibition at the American Craft Museum in the 1970s. It was my first exposure to the photo screenprinting process on cloth. This initial viewing of images from the real world brought directly into fabric stands as a landmark in my memory. Although Lintault’s work has changed, she remains an innovator in the quilt genre.” - Patrica Malacher in Surface Design (Summer 1999, Vol. 23 N0. 24).
